Our Story

Founded in March 2019, HippoScreen Neurotech (HNC) was established with investment from Compal Electronics and in collaboration with the EEG research team led by Professor Yi-Hung Liu at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.

Built on years of research in EEG signal processing and artificial intelligence, HNC develops AI-powered brain health assessment solutions that support early detection, clinical decision-making, and preventive care.

HNC's self-developed medical-grade EEG device has received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance, Taiwan TFDA medical device approval, and ISO 13485 and BSI quality certifications. The company is recognized as Taiwan's first medical-grade EEG manufacturer with comprehensive regulatory and quality system capabilities.

SEA – Stress EEG Assessment, HNC's flagship product, is an AI-assisted Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) for depression risk assessment. Approved by Taiwan TFDA in October 2023, SEA is now being expanded into health screening, workplace wellness, and mental health support settings.

Beyond mental health, HNC is also advancing research in early cognitive decline. Its BDR – Brain Degeneration Risk Assessment is currently in clinical development, aiming to support early identification of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) risk through AI-based EEG analysis.

Through objective, quantitative brainwave insights, HNC is committed to making brain health assessment more accessible, actionable, and clinically meaningful.
